Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Le Maniot produced?

Le Maniot is produced exclusively in Mani, Greece. Single-origin, mono-cultivar extra virgin olive oil, like ours, specifies the region they come from. Le Maniot gives you a direct connection to the natural environment and traditions behind the product.

How does this support the local community?

We exclusively work with our family and farmers who maintain high standards. We seek out those in the local community who are producing Extra Virgin Olive Oil at our standards.

What taste can I expect? What kind of flavor and taste does extra virgin olive oil have?

The oil is evaluated by a trained tasting panel. It must show no defects and have a noticeable fruitiness. If there are off-flavors or other defects, it cannot be labeled as Extra Virgin. (Don’t worry – we are)

Extra virgin olive oil often has a bold, fruity taste with hints of grassiness and a mild, peppery finish. This makes it a favorite among chefs and home cooks looking for a rich, aromatic oil that can stand out in dressings, drizzles, or dips.

What are the benefits of extra virgin olive oil?

We believe in well-being and being well – so we’re not only giving you taste but we’d like to highlight the benefits of extra virgin olive oil:

  • Rich in Antioxidants & Polyphenols: Compounds like oleocanthal and hydroxytyrosol may offer heart-health and anti-inflammatory advantages.
  • Healthy Fats: Primarily monounsaturated fat (oleic acid), supporting beneficial cholesterol levels.
  • Culinary Versatility: Enhances dishes with a vibrant, fresh flavor—ideal for drizzling, dipping, and cooking.
  • Potential Anti-Inflammatory Effects: The “peppery” sensation often signals higher polyphenol content.
  • Oxidative Stress Protection: Antioxidants help guard cells against damage from free radicals.
What are the best ways to use Le Maniot?
Olive oils created from 100% Koroneiki olives, like Le Maniot, are known for their versatility. Works well in dressings, dips, and light sautés, as well as a finishing oil to add a peppery flair without overpowering milder dishes. BUT don’t be afraid to cook with our olive oil too! (We do!)

Is Le Maniot certified organic?

Le Maniot has not been certified organic yet. In turn, we made the decision from the getgo to undergo rigorous testing and transparency of our production process. While organic does not necessarily mean that pesticides aren’t used, we like to offer transparency to our customers by knowing exactly where our groves are located and our olive oil test results.

“Our olive oil test results from an IOC-certified laboratory.”

What are your sustainable practices?

We embrace and practice traditional dry farming techniques. We also respect the land and all nature; therefore, we have standards to enforce minimal intervention of the environment – email us to discuss further!
